We all love summer time, which means holidays, beach days, pool parties, music festivals, and dinner parties with friends. It also means a pretty, light, and fresh makeup. Get ready to look your best all summer long with these beauty tips.

Start with the Proper Base

The way you care for your skin is just as important as the makeup you apply to it. Do not use anything too heavy or creamy for summer. Use an oil-free moisturizer in the morning. Do not forget to apply a primer, which goes on after moisturizer, but before face makeup. Primers do not feel at all like a heavy, additional layer and they really help to hold makeup in place.

Less Is More

Since makeup tends to move around when it is hot, the best way to prevent this from happening is to wear less makeup. Remember that less is more when the temperature is high. Therefore, opt for an oil-free foundation formula or choose a tinted moisturizer. I highly recommend you to use a foundation or a tinted moisturizer with sunscreen, in order to protect your face from sunlight. Touch up blemishes, dark circles or redness with a tiny dab of concealer and blend well with a small brush.

Next to sunscreen, bronzer is your best friend in the summer. For a sun-kissed glow, use a medium-size brush to sweep sparinglythe bronzer to the top of the forehead, the cheekbones, and down along your jawline.

Eye Makeup

To avoid embarrassing moments in the summer heat, when your makeup starts running, try to switch out your normal eye makeup for waterproof eyeliner and mascara. Waterproof eyeliners and mascaras stay in place on steamy days.

For longer-lasting shadow, avoid using cream eye shadow on your lids. If you do not want to give up using your cream eye shadow, layer a powder over the cream. In the same way, apply your regular pencil or cream liner and then use a small angled brush to press dark shadow over the liner to set it for longer wear.

Lip Makeup

Protect your lips from sunlight, as they have very little sun-repelling melanin, so it is essential to look after them. Use a lip balm that shields from UVA/UVB rays and moisturizes with vitamin E.

Use a lip stain rather than a lip gloss or a lipstick. It has better staying power and looks more natural. If you want to use lipstick, try applying foundation to your lips first. It will create a base that will help the lipstick to stay in place.

Summer 2018 Trends

This year, colored eyeliner is a big summer trend. If you love eyeliner, you should try kicks of color beneath the wings. Go for lavender, magenta, yellow or white and recreate the trend by applying the shade alongside a thin line of black eyeliner. Take a very feminine approach and try delicate touches of glitter, when applying your makeup. There are so many colors and it is perfect for embellishing eyeliner or color shadow in a subtle way. You can even use it to create bold shapes or to make your lips glamorous.

If you like to paint your lips with vivid colors and luxurious textures, this season you will find a lot to love about the new spring/summer lipstick launches. Whether you prefer to swipe on a bright neon or layer on a high shine gloss, there is a new lipstick color for you to try. My favorite colors are electric orange, matte crimson, magenta, and silvery gloss.
